City Jail Booking Reports

A dated report can establish that a named person entered the city system during the report period. It does not show a rolling group of people who were released, and it does not prove the person remained in the same place after booking.
The distinction is central. “Booked” means an intake event was recorded. It does not mean convicted. A later absence can reflect transfer, release, data timing, or the fact that a daily report is a snapshot rather than a live history. The city source must not be converted into a release list by comparing one day's names with another day's names.

Trace a City Jail Release
Start with the exact daily report tied to the suspected booking date. Match the full name and any available identifying details. Record the report date and booking context. Then move forward through the custody chain instead of assuming that the city page holds a complete history. If the person entered Caddo Correctional Center, the CPSO booking episode becomes the stronger physical-custody source.
A practical search sequence is:
- Locate the official city booking report for the relevant date and confirm that it refers to the correct person.
- Search the CPSO current roster for a later parish-jail entry. Use an SO number, booking number, or date of birth when available.
- Check the correct court for bond, dismissal, sentence, time served, release order, or a commitment that sent the person elsewhere.
- Ask the city custodian for the movement or disposition record tied to that booking, including any transfer destination.
- If CCC received the person, use the CPSO booking and release history for the parish episode and request its outcome fields when needed.
- If a federal hold or transfer appears, follow the federal docket or U.S. Marshals route rather than treating the move as release.
A release from city custody can still be a transfer into parish, state, or federal custody. The city record may be the first link, while the receiving agency's record shows the next status. Shreveport Release or CCC Transfer
The city-to-parish handoff is a distinct Caddo Parish source of false conclusions. A Shreveport Police arrest can appear first in a City Jail daily report and later in the Caddo Correctional Center system. Both records can be accurate, but they describe different stages. The municipal record documents intake. The CCC record documents parish custody after the transfer.

Do not collapse the two facilities into one. City Jail staff should be asked for city-created records, while CPSO should be asked for the CCC episode. If the city record names CCC, continue with the Caddo Correctional Center release record. If it records community release, check the court authority and any separate hold before stating the scope of the conclusion.
City Jail Release Court Records
Not every Shreveport booking belongs in the First Judicial District Court. That court is the main district court for felony criminal matters in Caddo Parish, while Shreveport City Court handles matters within its municipal and misdemeanor jurisdiction. First identify the arresting agency and charge, then use the proper court. Read a docket summary as an index, not as the full outcome. Open the minutes, order, or judgment. Administrative processing, another docket, a warrant, or a detainer can keep someone confined after one case produces a favorable order. Strong confirmation pairs the relevant court entry with the city or CPSO movement and release record.
Request City Jail Release Records
When the daily report is the only public hit, direct the request to the City of Shreveport or Shreveport Police records custodian. Ask for the existing City Jail booking entry, movement or disposition, and transfer documentation for one identified episode. Give the full name, aliases, date of birth, report date, approximate booking time, and any city booking or case number. Ask for the recorded release date and time, outcome, and receiving agency if those fields exist.
Do not ask the city to certify a later CCC release that it did not create. If its record says “transferred to CCC,” use that answer as the bridge to CPSO and request the parish booking and release record. City Jail Federal Transfers
A federal hold changes the lookup route. The U.S. Marshals Service manages federal pretrial prisoners and may use contracted local detention space, but it does not provide a public historical locator like the Bureau of Prisons. A person can leave the city or CCC and remain in federal pretrial custody. After federal sentencing, a move into Bureau of Prisons custody is also a transfer. The BOP locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward and may show a released federal record. “Not in BOP custody” speaks only to BOP custody and does not rule out U.S. Marshals, local, state, immigration, or later custody.
